Winter can feel slow in so many ways. The days are shorter. The sessions are fewer. The race tracks are quiet. And for many photographers, this season can feel like a pause. But this year, I decided it wouldn’t be a pause. It would be a push.
Choosing Growth Over Waiting
In photography and media, it’s easy to fall into the rhythm of busy seasons and slow seasons. Spring and summer are packed. Fall fills up fast. And winter? Winter can feel like a waiting room. But I don’t want to wait for growth.
This year, I made the decision to use the slower months intentionally — to sharpen my skills, refine my eye, and invest in becoming better for my clients.
Investing in My Craft
One of the biggest ways I’m doing that? I’m currently taking a motorsports photography course.
If you know me, you know racing isn’t just another niche for me. It’s something I truly love. From trackside moments to garage prep and the energy of race day, there’s nothing like it. Motorsports photography is fast, technical, and constantly changing. Lighting shifts. Cars move at high speeds. Moments happen in a split second. Capturing it well takes skill, anticipation, and understanding the sport itself.
Growth Doesn’t Happen by Accident
Running a photography and media business means constantly evolving. Trends change. Technology changes. The industry changes.
And I want to grow with it, not behind it.
Investing in education, even during slower months, is one of the best ways I can serve my clients better when the busy season hits.
When spring arrives and engines fire back up, I won’t just be ready. I’ll be better.
